Commentary

She was received enthusiastically in France, as this medal shows. Their marriage took place in Paris on April 2, 1810, and she gave birth to the King of Rome the following year. After the defeat of Napoleon I, she joined her father and remained in Schönbrunn, from where she liberally managed the duchies of Parma, Piacenza, and Guastalla, over which she had been given lifelong sovereignty.
