Decimus Junius Brutus is the son of Decimus Junius Brutus, consul in 77 BC. -VS. He is adopted by Aulus Postumius Albinus and changes his name to Decimus Postumius Albinus. He first served under the orders of Caesar in Gaul, in particular against Vercingetorix in 52 BC.. -VS. He commands the fleet in charge of the blockade of Marseilles in 49 BC.. -VS. He remained in Gaul until 45 BC.. -VS. with the government of Transalpine. He is promised the Cisalpine government with the praetorship for 44 BC. -VS. and the consulate for 42 BC. -VS. Nevertheless, he was involved in the assassination of Caesar on the Ides of March (March 15, 44 BC).. -VS. ). Decimus Postumius Albinus joins the Cisalpine in order to raise an army for the benefit of the senate. He finds himself locked up in Mutina and blocked by Marc Antoine. He was saved by the intervention of Hirtius and Pansa, the two consuls of 43 BC.. -VS. who moreover find death during the fight, then of Octave. Antony retreats to transalpine Gaul, pursued by Decimus Postumius Albinus who has received the supreme command of the republican armies. The veterans of Caesar's armies refuse to fight Antony's troops and make a pact with the adversary. Betrayed, Decimus Postumius Albinus is finally captured by a Gallic chief who executes him, in accordance with the orders of Marc Antoine.
