Coments on the condition:
Flan ovale et centré, des taches au revers mais un bon état de conservation. Usure régulière. Beau buste bien reconnaissable de Postume au droit. Patine grise

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Postume à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Postumus Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Postume pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : IOVI - CONS-E-RVATORI.
Reverse description : Jupiter nu, debout à gauche, le manteau tombant sur l’épaule, tenant un foudre de la main gauche et un sceptre long de la main droite ; à ses pieds, un petit personnage tourné à gauche l’implorant.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Conservatori”, (À Jupiter conservateur).
Commentary
Poids lourd. Rubans de type 3. H. Schulzki signale seulement neuf exemplaires pour ce rarissime revers. L’exemplaire de MONNAIES 38 (en SPL), avait réalisé 1500€.

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
