Exemplaire sur un grand flan ovale, bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait réaliste de Postume. Revers de style fin malgré une usure superficielle. Patine gris foncé avec des reflets dorés

Commentary
Poids excessivement lourd. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Portrait particulier et énigmatique. Antoninien à dater après 266 plutôt qu’entre 263 et 265.

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
