Initialement appelé pont Salazar, en hommage au chef de l’État de l’époque, il fut renommé pont du 25-avril, jour phare de la révolution des Œillets

Initially called the Salazar Bridge, in tribute to the head of state at the time, it was renamed the 25th of April Bridge, the key day of the Carnation Revolution.
