Commentary
A la suite de Vasco de Gama, Pedro Alvares Cabral (1468-1520) prend la tête d’une flotte en 1499 avec pour destination la Mozambique et Calicut en Inde.Après le Cap Vert, il aborde le Brésil dans un lieu baptisé Porto Seguro. Il revendique alors cette terre au nom du roi du Portugal.
