Cet exemplaire, de forme de rectangle arrondi, s’ouvre et permet de placer un Louis d’or (diamètre : 22,5 mm) et une pièce de 10 francs or (20 mm)
Les emplacement pour les pièces sont guillochés formant un motif discret de rosace.
On note deux poinçons charançons dans un rectangle, sur le rebord de l’emplacement (Utilisé dans les ouvrages d’importation après 1893) accompagné de deux poinçons rectangulaires avec un motif de damiers (Probablement une bigorne de contremarque), un poinçon charançon et un poinçon damier sont reproduits sur l’anneau de suspension. On distingue aussi le titrage 800.
Dimensions: 52 x 29 mm (excluding the bail). This example, in the shape of a rounded rectangle, opens to hold a Louis d'or (diameter: 22.5 mm) and a 10-franc gold coin (20 mm). The coin slots are guilloché, forming a discreet rosette pattern. Two weevil hallmarks within a rectangle are visible on the rim of the slot (used in imported pieces after 1893), accompanied by two rectangular hallmarks with a checkerboard pattern (likely a countermark). A weevil hallmark and a checkerboard hallmark are reproduced on the suspension ring. The 800 fineness mark is also visible.

From the Middle Ages until the middle of the 19th century, deniers, écus, and then the first francs and centimes, were carried in purses, alms pouches, or small leather change purses, often attached to the belt. When, in the second half of the 19th century, the Second Empire put into circulation more than one hundred million 20-franc gold coins minted with the image of Louis Napoleon III, it was necessary to create a safe and practical system for storing and individually transporting these precious coins.
