Obverse legend : L’APRES DINEE / D’APRES LANCRET / FRAINIER .
Obverse description : Dans un décor champêtre, quatre personnages se disposent autour d’une table de jeu, une femme et un homme sont assis de part et d’autre de la table. Derrière la chaise du monsieur, deux femmes debout, regardent le jeu.
La mention “ l’après dîné d’après Lancret” fait référence à une peinture faite par le maître du XIXe siècle et conservée à la National Gallery de Londres, inventaire n° 5869. On notera ici que la peinture est quelque peu remodelée.

Reverse legend : LES DEUX AMIS / PAR LANCRET / FRAINIER.
Reverse description : Dans un décor champêtre, trois personnages vêtus à la mode de l’époque, un homme debout tend la main vers la jambe de l’homme assis, tenant lui même le menton d’une femme à coté de lui.
La mention “les deux amis par Lancret” évoque une toile du maître, cette peinture est connue par une gravure de Nicolas Lamessin conservée à La BNF numéro “ FRBNF44572050”.
La mention Frainier est quand à elle liée au graveur.
Commentary
Dimensions : 53,5*30,5 mm (en excluant la bélière), l’anneau de suspension est décoré de motifs floraux.
Cet exemplaire, en forme de rectangle s’ouvre et permet de placer une monnaie 20 francs Or (diamètre : 21,5 mm) et une monnaie de 10 francs or (19 mm).
Les emplacements pour mettre les pièces sont guillochés formant un motif discret de rosace et les centres de chacun des emplacements présentent la mention : METAL ARGENTE.
On note divers poinçons, sur l’anneau un crabe. Entre les emplacements, un poinçon losange et un crabe. A l’avers de l’étui, à l’exergue, un losange et un crabe.
L’iconographie est repris du thème populaire de la fête galante, initié au XIXe siècle par Antoine Watteau avec “le pèlerinage à l’île de Cythère”, huile sur toile de 1718 conservé au Musée du Louvre (Paris) numéro d’inventaire : INV 8525.
Ce thème fait état de rencontres ludiques en plein air entre riches aristocrates.
On sait que Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743) et Watteau se rencontre dans l’atelier du peintre Gillot où il font tout deux leur apprentissage. Ils deviennent par la suite amis et réalisent de nombreux tableaux représentant des fêtes galantes, c’est ce qu’évoque les deux gravures reprises sur notre porte-louis .

From the Middle Ages until the middle of the 19th century, deniers, écus, and then the first francs and centimes, were carried in purses, alms pouches, or small leather change purses, often attached to the belt.
