Cet exemplaire, en forme de cochon, s’ouvre et permet de placer une monnaie 20 francs Or (diamètre : 22,5 mm).

L’emplacement pour mettre la pièce est lisse.

Sur la bélière, la mention CME est gravée d’un côté de la bélière et de l’autre côté, un poinçon ancre, le titrage 925 suivi du titrage 925 au milieu d’une balance. Titrage 925 à l’intérieur à gauche de l’emplacement de la monnaie.
Dimensions: 48 x 32 mm. This pig-shaped coin holder opens to hold a 20-franc gold coin (22.5 mm diameter). The coin slot is smooth. The bail is engraved with the letters CME on one side and, on the other, an anchor hallmark, the 925 fineness mark followed by the 925 fineness mark in the center of a scale. The 925 fineness mark is also engraved inside, to the left of the coin slot.

From the Middle Ages until the middle of the 19th century, deniers, écus, and then the first francs and centimes, were carried in purses, alms pouches, or small leather change purses, often attached to the belt. When, in the second half of the 19th century, the Second Empire put into circulation more than one hundred million 20-franc gold coins minted with the image of Louis Napoleon III, it was necessary to create a safe and practical system for storing and individually transporting these precious coins.
