Marsique the war began after the revolt Asculum late 91 BC The people of Picenium, Samnium and Apulia rebelled against the authority of Rome and the injustice of the Senate. The Senate granted the right of citizenship to some allies to try to break the League, but the following year, Rome was shaken, beaten consuls. Lucius Porcius Cato was killed fighting the Italians. Sulla in 89 BC, won the victory of Nola in Campania on the coalition and took Bovianum in Samnium, seat assemblies allies. He received the title of "Felix" (Happy). The death of Pomponius Silo and leniency towards Rome revolted cities ended the Social War in 88 BC.
