Obole attribuée à l’atelier de Melle, car ce motif du revers se rencontre sur des deniers avec le monogramme ME sous une croix pour METVLLO (Melle).

The Melle workshop, in the south-east of Deux-Sèvres, was important in the Carolingian period and seems to have been in operation from the Merovingian period. The silver-lead mines are still accessible and can be visited by a wide public.
