(Second century BC)
SELGE stood on the banks of the Eurymedon about forty miles from Aspendos which it sometimes mimics the mint. The people of this rich and prosperous agricultural land claimed descent of the Spartans, but had abandoned in favor of a Greek dialect Pisidien. The Selgiens were renowned fighters. The city remained under Persian rule until the arrival of Alexander the Great in 333 BC.
