PICTONES (Area of Poitiers)
(1st century BC)
The Pictons appear several times in the Gallic Wars (III., 11; VII., 4 and 75; VIII., 26 and 27). Their capital was Lemonum (Poitiers). They rallied Vercingetorix and recognized him as leader. The Pictons sent 8,000 men to rescue Alesia.
