Coments on the condition:

Drachme cassée (anciennement) et recollée, avec un revers très homogène mais une cassure plus nette au droit. Types centrés sur un flan un tout petit peu trop court. Droit issu d’un coin plus usé ou de frappe molle, mais revers vigoureux de toute beauté

Obverse description : Tête à droite, les cheveux en grosses mèches d’où partent des cordons perlés qui ornent le champ devant le visage.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Char à droite, conduit par un aurige, avec la roue sous la queue ; entre les jambes du cheval, un personnage ailé.

Commentary

Cette drachme d’argent semble inédite. Elle peut être rapprochée des monnaies DT. 3626 et 3627, de la série 1244 “types composites (or et argent)”.
Le module, le métal, la provenance et la typologie du droit et le cheval androcéphale au revers sont très proches. Notre monnaie s’en distingue par le revers avec le personnage ailé sous le cheval et la présence d’une roue (absente ou hors flan sur les deux exemplaires du Nouvel Atlas).
This silver drachma appears to be unique. It can be compared to the coins DT. 3626 and 3627, from the 1244 series “composite types (gold and silver)”. The module, the metal, the provenance and the typology of the obverse and the androcephalic horse on the reverse are very similar. Our coin is distinguished by the reverse with the winged figure under the horse and the presence of a wheel (absent or off-flan on the two examples of the New Atlas)
