Ce denier est frappé sur un flan assez large et présente des reliefs nettement plus nets au revers qu’au droit. La croix du revers apparaît légèrement en négatif au droit

The Soissonnais was a hereditary stronghold of the House of Vermandois. In the 12th century, the county passed into the house of Nesle. Yves de Nesle (1141-1178) chose his nephew Conon de Nesle (1175/6-1180) to succeed him. Raoul de Nesle succeeded his brother Conon who died in 1180 without posterity. Raoul's reign was one of the longest in the county of Soissons, 55 years.
