Obverse description : Buste drapé et cuirassé de Philippe II césar à droite vu de trois quarts en arrière (A°2).

Obverse translation : “Marcus Iulius Philippus Cæsar”, (Marc Jules Philippe césar).

Reverse

Reverse legend : PROVINCIA DACIA// AN .I..

Reverse description : La Dacie debout à gauche, coiffée d'un bonnet phrygien, drapée, tenant une épée recourbée retournée de la main droite et un étendard de la main gauche inscrit D F ; de chaque côté, un aigle tenant une couronne à gauche, un lion à droite.

Reverse translation : “Provincia Dacia/ anno primum”, (Province de Dacie/ an premier).

Commentary

L’as pour Philippe II césar n’a été frappé que pour l’an 1. Les lettres D F dans le vexillum (étendard) sont pour “Dacia Felix” ou la Dacie heureuse. Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire du musée de Budapest (SNG/H. 70, pl. VI, type avec les deux vexilla).
