Flan très large et ovale. Très beau revers bien venu à la frappe, pour un monnayage souvent mou. Fine patine grise

Obverse description : Buste radié et drapé de Philippe II césar à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A21).
Obverse translation : “Marcus Iulius Philippus Cæsar”, (Marc Jules Philippe césar).

Reverse legend : PRINCIPI I-VVENT.
Reverse description : Philippe II, vêtu militairement debout à gauche, tenant un globe de la main droite et un haste renversé de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Principi Iuventutis”, (Au prince de la jeunesse).
Commentary
Poids léger. Sur cet exemplaire, Philippe tient bien une haste renversée au lieu du sceptre qui se rencontre sur certains exemplaires.

Augustus
Philip II, son of Philip the Arab and Otacilia Severa, was named Augustus in 247. He participated in the commemoration of the millennium of Rome which began on April 21, 247. Philip, his father, was killed at the battle of Verona . Philip II was assassinated shortly thereafter. We do not know what happened to Otacilia Sévéra. Philip II was made Caesar shortly after the accession of his father who awarded him the title of prince of youth.
