Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, éclaté à 1 heure. Beau buste de Darius II. Revers de style fin. Jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés

Obverse description : Buste de Darius à gauche, tête coiffée de la tiare avec oreillette ornée d’un croissant de lune, un bandeau simple, avec nœud qui tombe derrière la tête, la barbe triangulaire longue et pointue, les cheveux longs tombant sur la nuque.

Reverse legend : LÉGENDE ARAMÉENNE.
Reverse description : Le roi debout à gauche devant un pyrée (autel du feu) allumé.

PERSIS - KINGDOM OF PERSIS - DARIUS II
(c. 2nd - 1st century BC)
La Perside seems to have played an important role in the history of the Achaemenid Empire. Persepolis was one of the capitals of the Empire. La Perside kept a certain autonomy under the Macedonian domination which was perpetuated under the Parthians. The founder of the dynasty seems to have been Bagadate at the end of the 3rd century BC. It seems that Darius II who is the contemporary of the Parthian kings Orodes I, Sinatruces and Phraates III (c. 80-57 BC- C.) was the son of Autophradates II the father of Artaxerxes II (c. 57 BC) and Oxathres (57-38 BC).
