La Perside seems to have played an important role in the history of the Achaemenid Empire. Persepolis was one of the capitals of the Empire. La Perside kept a certain autonomy under the Macedonian domination which was perpetuated under the Parthians. The founder of the dynasty seems to have been Bagadate at the end of the 3rd century BC.
