Monnaie d’un type très intéressant sur un flan large et ovale, avec un avers un peu décentré mais un superbe revers bien venu. Fine patine grise, légèrement irisée

Obverse description : Tête massive à gauche, le nez droit et le cou fort ; chevelure en petits croissants bouletés ; un annelet de part et d’autre du cou.

Reverse description : Taureau à gauche sur une ligne d’exergue, avec un oiseau posé sur le dos ; un torque entre les pattes et un annelet sous la tête.

Commentary

Cette drachme est rarissime ; elle a été frappée avec les coins de D3 et R3 de l’étude de 2012. Le style est nettement différent de celui des drachmes B1-10 avec une coiffure plus stylisée et une légende plus nette derrière la nuque.
Concernant le DT. 3368 les auteurs du Nouvel Atlas mentionnent une similitude avec les bronze carnutes COIIAT. Nous aurions peut-être le prototype de cette série de bronze avec cette drachme !.
This drachma is extremely rare; it was struck with the D3 and R3 dies of the 2012 study. The style is clearly different from that of the B1-10 drachmas with a more stylized hairstyle and a clearer legend behind the neck. Regarding DT. 3368, the authors of the New Atlas mention a similarity with the COIIAT bronze carnutes. We might have the prototype of this bronze series with this drachma!
