Commentary
A variety that appears to be unprecedented, with the letter S lying under the cross on the reverse, attributable to Bishop Sigofredus. A filled denarius of this type was discovered during excavations carried out in Villevaudé (Seine-et-Marne) and published by Fabien Pilon and Philippe Schiesser, “Eleven new Merovingian coins from archaeological operations in Neustria”, BSFN, June 2023, pp. 220-227
