Commentary

Il faut très probablement comprendre le mot "ordre" au sens des trois Ordres : Noblesse, Clergé, Tiers. Au nombre de vingt-quatre, les conseillers de ville, avec le prévôt des marchands, quatre échevins et trois officiers de ville formaient le Conseil de Ville.
The word \\\"order\\\" should most likely be understood in the sense of the three Orders: Nobility, Clergy, Third Estate. The twenty-four city councilors, with the provost of merchants, four aldermen and three city officers formed the City Council.
