Commentary


Poids très léger. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Par son diamètre et son poids, il ressemble plus aux monnaies avec la tête d’Apollon (HGCS. 7/ 427) . C’est la première fois que nous le proposons à la vente.

(III - II century BC)

Sinope, a colony of Miletus, was founded in the seventh century BC Located on the northern coast of the Euxine, maritime city, it was one of the most important ports in the region. The introduction of the new type with the head of the nymph Sinope is the installation of a democratic regime in Sinope in 453 BC by the Athenians. Satrap Datamès seized Sinope to 375 BC.
