Commentary
According to JR de Mey, Jules de Medici ordered Johan de Coucils, Provost General of the Avignon Mint, to strike 2,000 marks of billon coins and indicates that only one example had been found. Muntoni no. 101, p. 156, indeed describes a unique, unillustrated example that supposedly features two ermine spots flanking the cross on the reverse; however, this denier actually displays a group of two crossed keys and an ermine spot.
