Exemplaire sur un petit flan bien centré des deux côtés. Belle tête de Gorgone de face (Méduse). Joli revers. Patine vert olive foncé

Commentary

Cet type est mal attribué. Donné à Skiathos pour les îles de Thessalie, il faut le rendre à Aspendos en Pamphylie. Néanmoins l’attribution était intéressante avec les deux lettres S-K.

PAMPHYLIA - ASPENDOS

(3rd - 2nd century BC)

Aspendos, located twelve kilometers from the summit of Eurymedon, was a great economic place and had a large port on the coast. Aspendos remained loyal to the Persians until the arrival of Alexander the Great and resisted him before being taken in 333 BC. Aspendos belonged to the kingdom of Pergamum between 189 and 133 BC.
