L’actuelle Académie d'Orléans est l'héritière de nombreuses sociétés savantes qui existaient à Orléans sous l'Ancien Régime, elle prit successivement les noms de : Académie royale des sciences, arts et belles-lettres d'Orléans (1786-1792) ; Société royale d'agriculture, sciences, belles-lettres et arts (1819-1851) ; Société d'agriculture, sciences, belles-lettres et arts (1851-1996) et enfin Académie d'Orléans, d'agriculture, sciences, belles-lettres et arts depuis 1996. Son but est resté le même à travers les temps : un lieu d'information, d'échanges d'expériences et de confrontation des idées dans les domaines qui touchent aussi bien à l'agronomie qu'à l'histoire, aux sciences, aux arts et aux lettres.
The current Academy of Orléans is the heir to many learned societies that existed in Orléans under the Ancien Régime. It successively took the names of: Royal Academy of Sciences, Arts and Belles-Lettres of Orléans (1786-1792); Royal Society of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts (1819-1851); Society of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts (1851-1996) and finally Academy of Orléans, of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts since 1996. Its aim has remained the same throughout time: a place of information, exchange of experiences and confrontation of ideas in the fields that touch on agronomy as well as history, sciences, arts and letters.
