SILVER bee hallmark (1860-1879): token struck at the beginning of the Third Republic. The current Academy of Orléans is the heir to many learned societies that existed in Orléans under the Ancien Régime, it successively took the names of: Royal Academy of Sciences, Arts and Belles-Lettres of Orléans (1786-1792); Royal Society of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts (1819-1851); Society of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts (1851-1996) and finally Academy of Orléans, of Agriculture, Sciences, Belles-Lettres and Arts since 1996. Its purpose has remained the same throughout time: a place of information, exchange of experiences and confrontation of ideas in the fields that touch as much on agronomy as on history, sciences, arts and letters
