Commentary

Les archives ont conservé la quittance pour la fourniture des jetons de l'Ordinaire des Guerres de l'année 1646 : Je, Jean Varin, maistre et conducteur général du Moulin de la Monnoye, confesse avoir receu de Me Louis de Bragelongne, trésorier général de l'Ordinaire des Guerres, la somme de deux mil neuf cens livres pour la quantité de trois mil huict centz gettons d'argent, pesans ensemble IIII XX VII marcs deux onces, à raison de XXXIII l. V s. le marc, et pour les graveure des coings desdicts gettons faictz pour l'année 1646, ensemble pour les bources de velours et en broderie que j'ay fournies audict sieur de Bragelongne de laquelle somme de II m IX C livres je me tiens content et en quitte ledict Sr de Bragelongne et tous autres.

The archives have preserved the receipt for the supply of tokens for the Ordinary of Wars for the year 1646: I, Jean Varin, master and general manager of the Moulin de la Monnoye, confess to having received from Me Louis de Bragelongne, general treasurer of the Ordinary of Wars, the sum of two thousand nine hundred livres for the quantity of three thousand eight hundred silver gettons, weighing together 33,000 marks and two ounces, at the rate of 33,000 marks per mark, and for the engraving of the quinces of the said gettons made for the year 1646, together with the velvet and embroidery purses that I provided to the said Lord of Bragelongne, with which sum of 11,000 marks and nine hundred livres I am satisfied and leave the said Lord of Bragelongne and all others.
