Commentary
The deniers tournois minted in Orange by William Henry of Nassau in 1680 and 1681 are very poorly engraved and extremely rare. Two types are recorded in the CGKL (Catalogue Générale des Coins et Galeries Lausannes), one with three fleurs-de-lis beneath a horn, the other with three fleurs-de-lis beneath a sun. This previously unknown denier tournois has only three trefoil-shaped fleurs-de-lis arranged two and one on the reverse; moreover, the legends are different and could not be clearly read due to wear on the coin.
