Commentary
Comme quasiment tous les exemplaires des monnaies de la compagnie O.T.L, ils sont contremarqué du monogramme “OTL” sur l’avers (et quelques fois sur le revers). La monnaie est trouée en son centre. Il existe deux variétés pour ce jeton : a) avec les trois lettres “O.T.L.” au même niveau ; b) avec le “T” de “O.T.L.” légèrement surélevé (avers) et la base du “5” de “25” légèrement plus basse que le “2” (Les Jetons de Transport Français, Roland Elie, 1995).

There are two varieties of this token: a) with the three letters “OTL” at the same level; b) with the “T” of “OTL” slightly raised (obverse) and the base of the “5” of “25” slightly lower than the “2” (Les Jetons de Transport Français, Roland Elie, 1995)

The railway from Paris to Saint-Germain, inaugurated on August 24, 1837, is at the origin of the western railway network since the law of July 9, 1835. One of the locomotives used is a Seguin, model 1829 , the first French smoke tube locomotive. The Western Railway Company was liquidated in 1909 to form part of the state network. On August 31, 1937, the forced merger of the five concessionary companies, North, East, Paris-Orléans, PLM, State, Alsace Lorraine gave birth to the SNCF.
