Obverse description : Buste radié et cuirassé de Numérien auguste à droite, avec pan de paludamentum, vu de trois quarts en avant (B01).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Numerianus Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Numérien auguste).

Reverse legend : PIETAS AVGG/ C|-// -.
Reverse description : Pietas (la Piété), drapée debout à droite devant un autel, tenant un globe de la main gauche et étendant la main droite.
Reverse translation : “Pietas Augustorum” (La Piété des augustes).

Commentary


Poids très léger. Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Cuirasse formée d’écailles. Le G de AVG vient toucher le pan de paludamentum. Nous n’avons relevé aucune identité de coin pertinente. C’est le neuvième exemplaire publié. Prendra le n° 596e dans le Supplément III de Bastien.

Numerian brings back the army after the death of Carus. He was assassinated in Nicaea by his father-in-law Aper, prefect of the praetorium, himself eliminated by Diocletian on November 20, 284.
