Obverse description : Petite tête casquée à droite, avec le couvre nuque très en arrière ; légende autour commencant derrière la tête.

Reverse legend : TEOVALDVIA.

Reverse description : Croix sur trois degrés ; légende autour.

Commentary

Ce triens semble pouvoir être attribué au Neuvy sarthois, mais le nom du monétaire est soit très stylisé et erroné pour correspondre à THEVALDVS dont un exemplaire est recensé dans le Moneta ( Prou 464 = Belfort 3252). La lecture du revers pourrait aussi faire penser au B. 3250 dont l’interprétation est sujette à discussion entre P. d’Amécourt et M. Prou....
This triens seems to be attributable to Neuvy sarthois, but the name of the coin is either very stylized and erroneous to correspond to THEVALDVS, a example of which is listed in the Moneta (Prou 464 = Belfort 3252). Reading the reverse could also make one think of B. 3250, the interpretation of which is subject to discussion between P. d'Amécourt and M. Prou...
