Commentary

En 1884, la partie nord-est de la Nouvelle Guinée est annexée par l’Allemagne, sous le nom de Kaiser-Wilhems-Land. En 1914, ce territoire est occupé par les troupes australiennes. Ce territoire devient le territoire de Nouvelle-Guinée sous mandat australien de la Société des Nations. En 1949, il sera rattaché au Territoire de Papouasie..
