Coments on the condition:

Triens sur un flan un peu court, mais avec les types de droit et de revers néanmoins complets. Frappe vigoureuse, avec un aspect un peu mat de l’ensemble de la surface avec un tréflage du revers

Commentary

Ce type précis semble manquer au Belfort ; si la légende NOVIOMAGO est connue, elle est au droit sur le triens B. 3244. Les types sont très différents, avec une colombe tenant une croisette devant le visage. Au revers, la croix est aussi très différente, formée de globules et de tirets autour d’une petite croix centrale, bien loin de notre croix cantonnée.
NOVIOMAGVS a été identifié Nimègue (Hollande) et par P. d’Amécourt à Nijon (Haute-Marne) qui semble plus vraisemblable !.
This specific type seems to be missing from Belfort; if the legend NOVIOMAGO is known, it is on the obverse of triens B. 3244. The types are very different, with a dove holding a cross in front of its face. On the reverse, the cross is also very different, formed of globules and dashes around a small central cross, a far cry from our cantoned cross. NOVIOMAGVS has been identified in Nijmegen (Holland) and by P. d'Amécourt in Nijon (Haute-Marne), which seems more likely!
