Historical background

NETHERLANDS - KINGDOM OF HOLLAND - LOUIS NAPOLEON

(5/06/1806-13/12/1810)

Louis (2/09/1778-25/07/1846) was Napoleon's third brother. He was forced to marry, against his will, Hortense de Beauharnais in 1802 and was the father of Louis Napoleon (the future Napoleon III). Louis accepted the throne of Holland on June 6, 1806. At odds with his brother and trying to protect his States, he abdicated on December 13, 1810. Holland was attached to the French Empire on the same day.
