Reverse description : Libertas (la Liberté) drapée debout à gauche, tenant un bonnet de liberté (pileus) de la main droite et un sceptre de la main gauche.

NERVA

(18/09/96-25/01/98)

The reign of Nerva, born in 32, is a period of transition. It traditionally marks the end of the Twelve Caesars of Suetonius and makes the junction with the Antonine dynasty or co-opted emperors. Nerva was consul in 71 then in 90 and took his third consulship in 97. Aged, Nerva joined Trajan by adopting him. The latter succeeded him in January 98.
