Bronze avec une frappe centrée des deux côtés, et les légendes partiellement hors flan. Patine verte et rougeâtre assez hétérogène, mais stable

Obverse legend : LÉGENDE IBÉRIQUE EK[EKE].
Obverse description : Tête masculine à droite, ornée d’un coiffure particulière ; légende ibérique devant le visage.
Reverse
Reverse legend : NERON[KEN].
Reverse description : Animal hybride à droite, composé d'un protomé de cheval ailé et d'une queue de reptile (?) enroulée sur elle-même ; légende ibérique à l'exergue.
Commentary
Sur ce rare bronze, la tête du droit et l'animal fantastique du revers sont particulièrement bien venus. Au revers, les trois dernières lettres de la légende sont hors flan.

GALLIA - NEDENES (oppidum of Montlaures)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
This small people is neither cited by Ptolemy nor by Strabo any more than by Caesar. He must have belonged to the more general group of Longostaletes, in the region between Narbonne and Béziers. It is the recent excavations, carried out over the past thirty years, which have made it possible to restore to the oppida of Montlaurès and Ensérune the importance they had acquired between the creation of the province of Narbonnaise, in 118 BC. C., and the end of the Gallic Wars.
