Historical background

NERO and DRUSUS CAESARS

(+ 30 and 33) restitution of CALIGULA

Caesares

Nero and Drusus are Caligula's older brothers. They are victims of the vindictiveness of Tiberius towards the family of Germanicus. Sejanus pushed to exile Mother Agrippina to the island of Pandoria. Nero, meanwhile, is relegated to the island of Pontia. In 31, thanks to the intervention of Antonia, Séjan is unmasked and killed on the order of Tiberius. Livia, the wife of Drusus, son of Tiberius whom she poisoned, dies of hunger. In 33, it was the turn of Drusus and his mother Agrippina to perish a slow death. Caligula remains the last male descendant of the line of Germanicus and Augustus.
