Commentary


Poids léger. Pour ce type, M. Crawford a relevé une estimation inférieure à vingt coins de droit et inférieure à vingt-deux coins de revers. Ce denier est beaucoup plus rare que ne semblent l’indiquer les ouvrages généraux. Dans les trésors, seules cinq pièces ont été relevées provenant des dépôts d’Alvignano (1 ex.), d’Avvetrana (1 ex.), de Vigatto (1 ex.), de Galignano (1 ex.) et de Terranova (1 ex.).

NERIA

The gens Neria is of plebeian origin. Cnæus Nerius is urban quaestor in 49 BC. He seems to belong to Pompey's party and certainly follows his master when Julius Caesar crosses the Rubicon and seizes Rome. He follows the consuls to Sicily.
