Commentary


Le poids moyen de ces hemioboles s’établit à 0,35 g. Dans le catalogue de la BnF (SNG. France 5/ 386, pl. 18) la petite tête au-dessus du lion est décrite comme celle d’une louve. Sur notre exemplaire particulièrement bien visible, les oreilles sont rondes et ne peuvent être en aucun cas celles d’une louve, mais celles d’un félin (une lionne).

Coinage began in the late seventh century BC An important electrum coinage was struck between 600 and 330 BC with tuna as a symbol.
