Exemplaire sur un petit flan bien centré. Très belle tête de Zeus. Frappe brouillée au revers. Belle patine vert foncé

Commentary


Poids léger. Ce type de bronze semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Seulement deux exemplaires signalés dans la Sylloge française (SNG. France 5/ n° 2 et 3, pl. I).
Lightweight. This type of bronze appears to be much rarer than general works suggest. Only two examples are reported in the French Sylloge (SNG. France 5/ no. 2 and 3, pl. I)

MYSIA - ADRAMYTTIUM

(4th - 1st century BC)

Adramytium is said to have been founded by Adramys, the brother of Croesus, king of Lydia. The city was located in the gulf of the same name on the coast northwest of Pergamon.
