Reverse description : Aigle bicéphale sous une couronne, portant en cœur le chiffre 28.

Commentary

Ce type monétaire était jusqu’à présent classé par erreur à Emden ou à Modène. Christian Charlet et Francesco Pastrone, à partir d’un document d’archives conservé dans le fonds de la Cour des monnaies de Paris (sous-série Z1b des Archives nationales), ont montré que ces monnaies sans millésime, ont été frappées en 1657 à Monaco, à destination du Levant (BSFN, novembre 2016, p. 352-357). Ces espèces monégasques copient les monnaie d’Emden.
This type of coin was previously mistakenly classified as Emden or Modena. Christian Charlet and Francesco Pastrone, based on an archival document preserved in the funds of the Cour des monnaies de Paris (sub-series Z1b of the National Archives), have shown that these coins without a date were minted in 1657 in Monaco, destined for the Levant (BSFN, November 2016, pp. 352-357).
