Bel exemplaire, centré des deux côtés. Très jolie représentation de la Vierge. Revers agréable. Patine de collection avec de légers reflets bleutés

Historical background



Michel succeeded Romanus IV when the latter released by the Turks and returning to Constantinople, was blinded and died of his wound. Part of Asia Minor was lost, Sicily was invaded by the Normans and sedition broke out in the Balkans. Michel was overthrown by a conspiracy in 1078. Filed, he retired to a monastery.
