Issu de l'Hotel du Roi, le service des Menus Plaisirs et Affaires de la Chambre assurait au Roi les moyens de paraître en souverain. Le terme menus recouvre les petites fournitures faites par les valets de chambre, barbiers et tapissiers, les livrées, frais de voyage, almanachs et calendriers destinés à la Cour, bijoux et portraits offerts par le Roi.
Originating from the Hôtel du Roi, the Menus Plaisirs et Affaires de la Chambre service provided the King with the means to appear sovereign. The term menus covered the small supplies made by the valets, barbers and upholsterers, liveries, travel expenses, almanacs and calendars intended for the Court, jewels and portraits offered by the King.
