Obverse description : Victoire assise gauche sur un siège (portant les lettres ST), avec une sorte de “chope” formée d’un rectangle et d’un annelet, portée à la bouche .

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE ?.
Reverse description : Cheval bridé à droite, avec un cavalier brandissant une lance et un bouclier, listel.
Commentary
L’avers est clairement épigraphe sur cet exemplaire. Le bouclier et le cavalier sont parfaitement visibles sur cet exemplaire. Tous les bronzes de cette série sont incomplets, avec des flans plus étroits que les coins. Les légendes sont incertaines tant au droit qu'au revers.

MEDIOMATRICI (Area of Metz)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Médiomatriques were a very powerful people of Belgian Gaul. They were strongly Romanized and owed their wealth to the salt trade. They were installed on the Moselle and controlled part of the Vosges and Alsace. They had for neighbors the Treveri, the Remi, the Lingones, the Leuci and the Sequani. They provided a contingent of five thousand men for the relief army intended to free Alesia. Their main oppidum was Divodurum (Metz). Caesar (BG. IV, 10; VII, 75).
