Exemplaire sur un petit flan avec le métal légèrement échancré à 11 heures. Beau portrait. Petite faiblesse de frappe sur la légende. Revers avec un temple tout à fait inhabituel. Frappe faible sur le dôme. Jolie patine marron chocolat

Reverse description : Temple tétrastyle à dôme circulaire surmonté d'un aigle debout à droite, tournant la tête à gauche, les portes entrouvertes, orné de deux niches.

Reverse translation : “Æternæ Memoriæ”, (À la mémoire éternelle).

Commentary

Sur cet exemplaire, le temple est très particulier. Les colonnes du temple tétrastyle sont lotiformes, l’architrave est ornementée et globulée. La partie supérieure est ajourée et ornée de colonnettes tandis que la partie basse est ornée d’un treillis ou d’un appareil en petite maçonnerie.

Restitution of Maxentius

Maximian, after a tumultuous life, was eliminated or committed suicide at the beginning of the year 310 after trying to assassinate his son-in-law, Constantine I.
