Obverse description : Buste lauré consulaire de Maxence à gauche, tenant le scipio de la main droite vu de trois quarts en avant (H*2).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Maxentius Pius Felix Augustus Consul”, (L’empereur Maxence pieux heureux auguste consul).

Reverse

Reverse legend : CONSERV - VRB SVAE// TT.
Reverse description : Temple hexastyle avec fronton triangulaire richement décoré et surmonté d’acrotères ; à l'intérieur, statue de Rome casquée et drapée assise sur un bouclier à gauche, tenant un globe et une haste ; le fronton triangulaire est orné d'une croix.
Reverse translation : “Conservatories Urbis Suæ”, (Les protecteurs de leur ville).

Commentary

Indication du premier consulat de Maxence. Le buste consulaire à gauche (H*2) semble beaucoup moins courant que les représentations à droite (H*4).

Augustus

Maxentius, son of Maximian, was proclaimed Caesar on October 28, 306 in Rome, then took the title of Filius Augustorum.
