Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier bien centré. Très beau portrait de Maurice Tibère. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine verte, légèrement granuleuse au revers

MAURICIUS TIBERIUS

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
