Exemplaire sur un flan ovale parfaitement centré avec les grènetis complets à l’usure importante, mais parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Patine marron granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste consulaire casqué, diadémé avec pendilia de Maurice Tibère de face, tenant la mappa de la main droite et un scipio de la main gauche ; le tout dans une couronne.
Obverse translation : “Domino Nostro Maurici Tiberio Perpetuo Augusto”, (À notre seigneur Maurice Tibère perpétuel auguste).

Historical background
MAURICIUS TIBERIUS
(08/13/582-11/22/602)
Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
