Exemplaire de très petit module sur un flan très épais, à l’usure régulière, parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Frappe un peu molle au droit. Joli revers. Patine marron foncé.

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, couronné et cuirassé de Maurice-Tibère de face tenant un bouclier de la main gauche.

Historical background
MAURICIUS TIBERIUS
(08/13/582-11/22/602)
Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
